Roger Coryell, managing partner at Brandhound, seamlessly merges his multifaceted background in digital media, multimedia storytelling, and strategic communication to create dynamic narratives and foster community engagement.
Starting his professional journey with a degree from El Dorado College, San Diego, Roger stepped into broadcasting as a reporter for KPFA, KTOB, and KZST. He soon moved into the realm of radio programming, becoming a pivotal figure in the creation of the Smooth Jazz radio format and hosting the morning show at KKSF for a decade. His work extended to on-air roles for other San Francisco stations, such as KFOG and The Drive.
Roger made waves in radio broadcasting by developing the first website for a radio station and initiating the first online advertising deal for a radio platform. This marked the beginning of a succession of digital leadership roles at prominent media companies, including Brown Broadcasting (KKSF), Clear Channel, Bonneville International (KOIT/KDFC), and The Walt Disney Company (KGO), where he consistently bolstered digital engagement and reach.
In a venture into entrepreneurship, Roger co-founded DogTrekker, now a top resource for dog travel in California, and Uncooked.Social, a social media startup. He also provides consulting services to local broadcast group Wine Country Radio.
Roger’s career took a strategic turn with Innovative Radio Solutions, an agency owned by Entercom, Susquehanna, Bonneville, Inner City, and Disney. Here, he developed impactful radio solutions and promotional strategies for organizations like Visit Napa Valley, Visit Calistoga, Visit Tri Valley, Visit American Canyon, and Visit Mendocino.
Off the clock, Roger serves as the Chair of the non-profit California Community Voices and volunteers at the Guerneville Winter Shelter. He is currently the Digital Editor for the Sonoma County Gazette, where he leads digital content strategies and champions sustainable tourism and agriculture/viticulture initiatives.
